Naon Lucy: The Ultimate Eco-Friendly Urban Scooter

Electric motorcycles and scooters are gaining popularity in Europe and Asia due to their eco-friendly features. Some manufacturers prioritize sustainability, but only a few are making significant efforts to reduce waste in their production processes.

One company leading in this regard is Naon, a Berlin-based electric startup. Naon focuses on functionality, aesthetics, and local production. They employ a German workforce and use locally sourced materials. Their latest model, the Lucy, seems ready for production.

The Naon Lucy scooter comes in two versions: L1e, similar to an electric moped, and L3e, a faster light motorcycle. The L1e version has a top speed of 28 mph and is priced at 4,920 Euros (about $5,270 USD). The L3e model is faster at 60 mph but costs 6,420 Euros (around $6,877 USD).

The Lucy features a hub motor with seven kilowatts of power and 140 pound-feet of torque. Its swappable 5.2-kilowatt-hour battery provides a range of approximately 100 miles on a single charge. The scooter’s lightweight aluminum frame and ABS-equipped disc brakes ensure a safe and reliable ride.

Compared to the Zero-One concept, the Lucy boasts enhancements like larger wheels, a new single-sided swingarm, a double-bridge fork, and a rear strut wishbone suspension. Its design is sleek and minimalist, aligning with the modern tech aesthetic. The low-mounted battery maintains stability and preserves under-seat storage.
